Gaining Valuable Experience

Volunteering provides students or members of the public with hands-on experience working with wildlife. Volunteers learn about animal biology, caregiving, and gain species-specific knowledge.

Community Connection

Volunteering at Turtle Pond supports community engagement through programs like high-school or post-secondary co-op. Volunteers learn about the species in Northern Ontario and provide support for local ecosystems. People of all ages are given the opportunity to explore careers in wildlife rehabilitation and conservation.

Open Roles

Rescue & transport

Volunteers often assist in safely capturing and transporting injured or displaced wildlife to the centre for treatment. As part of this, we often require rides for wildlife in various parts of the province, and locally in Sudbury. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for when animals may need a ride.

Animal care  (ages 16+)

Volunteers aged 16 and over help with daily animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal health. They work closely with trained staff to ensure the animals’ wellbeing and support rehabilitation efforts.

Fundraising

Volunteers contribute by organizing events, campaigns, or online initiatives to raise vital funds for the centre’s operations. Creativity, enthusiasm, and strong communication skills are valuable in this role.

Student Placements

Student placements provide hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation,
veterinary support, and conservation practices. Ideal for students in high school, college, or university, these positions offer in-depth learning opportunities and mentorship from experienced staff.
